Honest
Honest, the undetectable powerhouse!

General description:
After a set full of dark types, yugioh then prints Light of Destruction, a set mostly filled with light types. One of the best light types in LODT is, without a doubt, honest! It's the cover card for the new set, and one of the best light fairy types for powerhouse decks since archlord zerato. Furthermore, it may be the first LV4 cover card to not have a summoning condition.

Uses:
Honest's effect lets you discard it from your hand to increase the attack of one of your battling light types by the monster it's battling. With an effect like that, it will not only obliterate almost any monster, but also inflict massave damage to your opponent. Also, if it ends up on your side of the field, then you can use its other effect to return it to your hand.

Strategies and game play:
This monster can take down nearly any monster in the game and is very similair to kuriboh since both of them can protect your life points. But the thing that makes honest unique from any other discard monsters is that his effect can work during either player's battle phase, not just your opponent's. And since its effect activates in your hand, then your opponent can't use negate effect cards (such as destiny hero plasma, light imprisoning mirror, ECT.) to stop honest (though one exception would be angel 07).

Combos with other cards:
Shining flare wingman is a great combo with honest because of his effect, but if your not too much into elemental heros, then an easier alternative to that would be Royal Knight, which increases your life points by the defense of a monster he destroys. Other great monsters for honest are remove from play cards such as D.D warrior lady and divine knight ishzark. And if you despratly need honest then and there, then use shining angel or sangan to put honest on the field, and then use honest's effect to put it back in your hand. And if you have any monster in mind no matter what atribute, then use DNA transpant so honest's effect can work on any monster.

Ways to counteract it:
There aren't that many counter's for honest other than discard cards such as theostalos, card destruction, ECT. Mind crush may also be a major flaw for every honest in your hand if your opponent can guess it's there. But one card that makes honest totally useless is the yubel set. And reverse trap is also a card that could make honest pretty useless. But beyond all of those, honest is a pretty hard card to get rid of.

Strengths/Pros:
Pros of honest
1. Massively increases the attack of one of your monsters.
2. Can be put back into your hand if on the field.
3. Can be activated from your hand so your opponent may not suspect it.
4. A difficult effect to negate without divine wrath.
5. A simple effect to use.
6. Can be activated during either player's turn
7. His low attack makes him a good target for monsters like sangan and shining angel
8. Can bring stability for any kind of fairy deck (counter trap, sanctuary, OTK, ECT.)

Weaknesses/Cons:
Cons of honest
1. Can be easily discarded
2. Useless without any monsters on your side of the field

Variations:
Honest is the very first lv4 monster ever released to be turned into a ghost rare. It also comes in a secret rare in america, and comes in an ultra and an ultimate rare in Japan.

Artwork and aesthetics:
The artwork on honest is pretty cool. It looks like an angel with beefy muscles, sort of like archlord zerato. The flash of light coming from its hands looks amazing in ghost rare form, and so do the stars in the backround of his picture. What I don't like about his picture though are the feathers falling off his wings. But besides that, I really like honest's artwork.

Overall rating:
I give this card a 9 out of 10 due to its nearly unstopable effect. But the one thing I have to say about this card is that for a monster that hides in your hand and turns a wimpy monster into a powerhouse of destruction, "honest" is not the first word to cross my mind.

Not a bad review, but I think you could've done more. His 1100 attack makes him easily searchable by cards like Shining Angel and Sangan. Also, since you can manually return him to your hand, you could've possibly found some use for that as well. Something like summon to field for another card then return to hand?

Also, I'm pretty sure Divine Wrath can't negate it.

other than the fact that Honest's effect can stack, good review...could also mention that it provides stability to Counter Fairy decks

Cool review!!!
I like it except gor the Elemental Hero Shining Flare Wingman combo...
Doesn't Honest's effect resolve in the grave by the way? Just wanted to be sure coz it looks like DD Craw...
Another way to get rid of it is with Mind Crush, although like you said, the opponent might never suspect!!!

Divine Wrath CAN negate Honest. And Honest has been a GREAT trouble to be played against. A Ryko beats down my Jinzo!
But later the release of Chariot of Gladiator Beast will make this card weaker.

My friend thought of a good combo with Honest. You need Honest, Mysterious Puppeteer, Ultimate Offering, amd Life Absorbing Machine.

While you have the 2 Continuous Traps and Puppeteer out, summon Honest. You gain 500 LP with Puppeteer's effect. Activate Honest's effect to add it to your hand. Pay 500 with Ultimate Offering to summon it. You gain another 500. Repeat as many times as you want. During your next Standby Phase, Life Absorbing Machine activates and you gain half of what you paid in your previous turn. After paying and regaining nearly infinate Life Points, LAM gives you back half of that, meaning near-unlimited Life Points.
